Ambassador Training Is Essential

Ambassador training is essential for every believer. That’s because Christians are identified as ambassadors for Christ and are commissioned to proclaim God’s offer of reconciliation to all people (2 Cor. 5:20). That’s our identity and mission. Every believer is an ambassador for Jesus, but what does it take to be an effective one to Muslims?

Think of political ambassadors to a country. What do they typically do? They learn and then they engage. They learn about the people group, and then they engage that people group. They take time to study the people, the demographics, their language, their culture, their foreign policy concerns, and many other aspects about the people and their country. Ambassadors can draw upon that knowledge to more carefully craft their message.

The same should be true of ambassadors for Christ. In the case of reaching Muslims, we should learn about their faith, their culture, their authoritative writings, their doctrines, and many other things about Islam. That way we can draw upon that knowledge to more carefully craft our message, which really is God’s message—His offer that anyone can be reconciled to Him.

I recently recorded a five-session DVD that will help achieve that end, and it should be available by the end of the year. It will compliment my Ambassador’s Guide to Islam book to equip believers to be effective ambassadors for Christ to Muslims.
